Learner Requirements in Victoria
To begin learning to drive in Victoria, you must:
✔ Be at least 16 years old and pass the VicRoads learner permit knowledge test
✔ Carry your learner permit at all times when driving or attending a lesson
✔ Hold your learner permit for a minimum of 12 months (or 6 months if aged 25 or over) before sitting your driving test
✔ Complete at least 120 hours of supervised driving, including 20 hours of night driving
✔ Pass the Hazard Perception Test before attempting your driving test
You must always be accompanied by a fully licensed supervising driver when driving.
Preparing for Your Driving Journey
To get the most out of your lessons and prepare for your driving test:
✔ Study the Road to Solo Driving Handbook
✔ Stay up to date with current road rules and regulations
✔ Gain additional supervised driving experience where possible
Regular practice with a qualified driving instructor or supervising driver will help build confidence and support your progress.
Licence Progression
In Victoria:
✔ P1 Licence — 12 months
✔ P2 Licence — 3 years
You must display the correct L or P plates at all times when driving.

Your Driving Lesson
For each lesson, please ensure you:
✔ Bring your learner permit
✔ Bring your logbook or myLearners app
✔ Wear appropriate clothing and footwear
✔ Bring glasses or sunglasses if required
✔ Bring a bottle of water
Lessons include briefing and debriefing time and commence at the scheduled pick-up location unless otherwise arranged.
Cancellations
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice (1 working day) is required for any lesson cancellations or changes.
If sufficient notice is not provided, a cancellation fee equivalent to the full lesson cost may apply.
Cancellations can be made via SMS or by contacting A-Class Drive Academy or your instructor. If confirmation is not received, please follow up.
Payments
✔ Cash (correct amount preferred)
✔ EFTPOS (surcharge may apply)
If you need to stop at an ATM during your lesson, please inform your instructor in advance. Time taken may be deducted from your lesson or charged accordingly.
Alternative payment methods may be accepted by prior arrangement.
Lesson Changes
Changes to scheduled lessons can be made with at least 24 hours’ notice.
Late changes may incur a cancellation fee.
For changes to pick-up or drop-off locations:
✔ Please notify us as early as possible
✔ Adjustments are subject to scheduling and lesson timing
Delays & Rescheduling
We aim to arrive on time for every lesson; however, delays may occur due to traffic or previous bookings.
✔ Please allow a 15-minute buffer
✔ You will be contacted if your instructor is significantly delayed
✔ If required, your lesson can be rescheduled
If A-Class Drive Academy needs to cancel a lesson, every effort will be made to reschedule as soon as possible.
