What suburbs do you cover?

A-Class Drive Academy conducts driving lessons in northeast Melbourne, including Northcote, Preston, Fairfield and all surrounding suburbs.

Can I get picked-up and dropped-off at different locations before and after my lesson?

Yes. A-Class Drive Academy can arrange different pick-up and drop off locations, in order for school, work and other activities to be accommodated.

Can I bring a parent along during the lesson?
+

Yes, A-Class Drive Academy is more than happy to allow a parent to quietly observe the lesson, sitting in the back seat of the car.

How many hours of practice driving do I need before can I sit my licence test?

Before you can attempt your P1 driving licence test, you must log at least 120 hours of supervised driving practice, including a minimum of 20 hours of night-time driving experience.

What kind of transmission is the car A-Class Drive Academy teach in?

Automatic.

What kind of car does A-Class Drive Academy teach in?
+

A-Class drive Academy conducts all lessons in a Mercedes Benz A180, which has an awarded ANCAP safety rating of 5 stars.

Do I need any qualifications to take driving lessons?

Yes. In Victoria, you need to be 16 years or older to obtain a learner permit. Once you’ve obtained your learner permit (by sitting the learner permit knowledge test), you need to bring it along with you to every driving lesson.

What do I need to do in preparation prior to my first driving lesson?

Along with obtaining your learner permit, you also need to study the Road to Solo Driving handbook, whilst gaining experience on the road behind the wheel. Any extra hours of supervised driving experience with a fully licenced family member, friend or professional driver instructor is also recommended to help you reach your goal of obtaining 120 hours practice. You also need to learn about the hazard perception test.

What do I need to do to pass my driving test to get my P1 Driver’s licence?

You must log 120 hours of supervised driving practice, including a minimum of 20 hours of night-time driving experience and have obtained your learner licence for a minimum of 12 months prior to your driving test. You must also pass the hazard perception test.

Am I covered by insurance?

Absolutely. It is vitally important when choosing a driving school that you know that you are covered. At A-Class Drive Academy, we are fully insured and all our instructors have passed police and working with children checks. Rest assured we have you and your safety covered every time you get behind the wheel with us.

How do I pay?

Payment can be paid directly to your instructor by either;
Cash or EFTPOS* on our mobile terminal (surcharge applies*)

Do you have Gift Vouchers?
+

Yes. You can purchase a Gift Voucher for as many or as few a lesson as you like and the recipient of the Voucher just brings it to their lesson to be signed by the instructor each time. (Not available for Specials)

What should I bring?
+

Your Learner permit, your logbook/ myLearners app, wear comfortable shoes, suitable clothes, prescription glasses/ sunglasses (if required) and maybe bring a bottle of water.
